L&M Engines Modular Pistons L&M Engines, Inc. has engineered a set of private label Diamond pistons for boosted applications:
L&M/Diamond Modular

These pistons have our part number and labeling.

They are available in 2V, 3V, 4V; 4.6L, 5.0L, 5.4L; Sizes - Std., .020, .030

The reason behind L&M Engines developing this series of pistons is that all the pistons out there are N/A pistons in the way they are configured.



Dome thickness - All the pistons that we have researched or measured were .185" to .225" thick domes, L&M Modular pistons are .300"-.340" thick allowing for a bigger heat sink and the possibility of a few more degrees of timing in some applications. All domes are ceramic coated.

Skirts - Skirts are .135" versus 102" at minor thickness. Coated with Teflon.

Compression Distance - All have .010" deck clearance, including the 5.4L, which everyone else and OEM have .120" deck clearance, allowing for abnormal combustion, not ours.

L&M Engines Modular Pistons Ring grooves - Most are less than .300" down and cut for standard rings which gives too much radial clearance for Total Seal AP rings and a cause for top ring failure, Our L&M piston have the top ring a minimum .300" down and cut for Total Seal AP steel rings that have reduced radial depth as well as moving the ring stack down away from the heat. Caution- These ring grooves are cut for Total Seal AP ring depth or a ring with equivalent radial thickness.

Pins - H13 Tool steel pins are standard in our pistons and we elected to stay with Spirolocks, even though they are sometimes a pain, they have never failed.

L&M Engines Modular Pistons Offset pins - All our styles have .050" wrist pin offset to reduce noise and reduce skirt loading in high boost applications.

Valve Notches - All our pistons are notched to accommodate cams up to 288-290 degrees @.050", more like a real racing cam.

Coatings - All of our Modular pistons come with Teflon skirt coatings and ceramic dome coating for reliability.

The pistons are our private label brand and available to no one else and come with a super discount when all the custom piston options, as we have, are accounted for.
